Before the travel world came to grinding halt, Cathay Pacific offered flights between Hong Kong and eight US airports across 7 US cities but, in a further sign of how slowly travel is currently recovering, the carrier is only set to operate to three of those cities in September 2020.

Cathay Pacific is running an Economy & Business Class sale for travel between the US and Asia and, although I can't see too much to get excited about in the Business Class fares, there are one or two last-minute Economy Class fares which look to be pretty good value.

Back in October 2018 Cathay Pacific opened up a trial in which Marco Polo Club members flying with Cathay Pacific (in any cabin) could pay to enter three of the Business Class lounges in its worldwide network. This trial is still in progress and was set to end on 31 March this year but, according to recent reports, Cathay Pacific has just announced and extension to the trial and added more lounges to it.

Last week we saw Air France roll out new Business Class meals from its stable of Michelin-starred chefs and now Cathay Pacific has announced a refresh of the meals it offers across all cabins.

Cathay Pacific is currently promoting a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale that, just like so many other sales this year, is available to book before Black Friday or Cyber Monday are even here....but that's good news for travelers.

These are tumultuous times for the oneworld alliance with more infighting than ever before and with at least one member already openly saying that it's considering exiting as soon as next year. It's no secret that a number of oneworld's members don't really get on and some even openly dislike each other so it seems only a matter of time before something gives and we see one or more significant changes to the membership.

Cathay Pacific used Twitter the other day to tease us about a possible new route to the US and now the airline has revealed exactly what that new route will be. A number of the routes included in the teaser seemed unlikely (I never thought Salt Lake City, Austin or Denver were in the running) but a number were also plausible (Honolulu, Seattle & Dallas) so it wasn't automatically obvious where Cathay planned to fly next.

There hasn't been anything from the press office and there was no mention of anything when the airline released its latest traffic figures for June but the Cathay Pacific US Twitter account appears to be teasing a new route to the US.
