We're now in the first days of October so we're into the final quarter of the year and that means that the new bonus categories for the Chase Freedom Flex℠ credit card and the legacy Chase Freedom credit card have now gone live.
In the last couple of years, Chase has taken to offering a variety of quarterly targeted spending bonuses across its co-branded card portfolio and it looks like these bonus offers are coming back for the final quarter of 2022.
American Express wasn't the only bank to issue a new mid-tier Marriott Bonvoy credit card yesterday. Chase joined in the fun too. Sadly for anyone who has been looking forward to seeing what Chase's mid-tier Bonvoy card will offer (the card has been rumored for some weeks), it looks like the new card is as big a disappointment as the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card...and I didn't think that could be possible.
Yesterday was a big day for announcements in the world of Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit cards with news that the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™️ American Express® Card has been refreshed and the news that two new mid-tier cards have been launched. There was, however, one other piece of Bonvoy credit card news that didn't get any fanfare at all and for some, it was the best news of the day.
When the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card was unveiled back in October last year I wasn't particularly impressed with what it had to offer and I said as much when I wrote about it on this site. Now, almost a year later, I can't say that my opinion of the card has changed dramatically but a couple of things are making me seriously consider adding it to my portfolio nonetheless.
The Freedom Unlimited Credit Card is a no annual fee credit card from Chase that has always been a good card to hold for unbonused spending. Its makeover in September 2020, however, turned it from a good card to hold to an excellent card that can form a key component of an Ultimate Rewards strategy.
I've said in the past that I'm not a big fan of most airline credit cards as I find they're too limiting in what they offer. While an airline's credit card will only earn miles/points in a specific airline's loyalty program, there are dozens of cards out there that are far more flexible and which will earn points that can be transferred to a variety of airline programs.
When Chase added a free night certificate to the already excellent welcome offer on the IHG® Rewards Premier credit card a couple of weeks ago it looked like a very generous move but on closer inspection, the upgraded offer isn't quite as amazing as we first thought. It's still a fantastic offer, but it comes with a caveat that anyone considering applying for this card should know about.
The second quarter of this year saw Chase offering a variety of targeted spending bonuses across its co-branded card portfolio and it looks like the bonus bonanza is continuing into 3Q 2022 with cardholders already seeing new targeted bonuses for spending starting tomorrow.
Chase has now revealed the Q3 bonus categories for its Freedom cards so anyone holding a Freedom Flex℠ credit card or a legacy Freedom Credit Card should head over to the registration page and make sure that they've registered their card(s) so they're ready for the moment the bonus categories go live.
